Project Description

There are different ways to insert a feeding gastrostomy, including surgical, endoscopic, and radiologic.

In Interventional Radiology, the Radiologic insertion of Gastrostomy or RIG is done about 1-2 times per week as we offer, anecdotally, a quick turnaround and good clinical outcomes.

However, the outcomes from this hospital has not been looked at for over 10 years, and it is unclear whether we are performing this in line with current literature.

Audit of internal outcomes forms an important part of quality assurance to ensure that best practice is occurring at our institution. If our rates are not in line with published data, we may have the opportunity to address this and look into ways to improve our service.
