Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

Australia boasts an array of flora and fauna that exists nowhere else on Earth, while its Indigenous heritage is key to understanding global human dispersals, adaptations and impacts. Our knowledge of Australia’s environmental and human history prior to European arrival suffers from a dearth of data. Fundamental new insights are needed to vastly improve our knowledge of the sequence of events, their underlying origins, ensuing trajectories and impacts on our nation’s unique biodiversity and cultural heritage. This Centre will create a truly transdisciplinary research program to build world-class capacity across the sciences and at the interface with the humanities, transforming our understanding of the processes that shape(d) Australia.
