Project Description
Zoot Pictures is in development on a documentary project entitled “Angkor and the Khmer” (The Documentary), which will incorporate CGI to show the city of Angkor circa 1295 AD.
Monash University has developed the Virtual Angkor project containing digital elements to recreate the city of Angkor.
The parties wish to work together on The Documentary, and agree to the following:
Monash University agrees in principle to work with Zoot Pictures on the visualization of Angkor for The Documentary, and collaborate on how best to use the Virtual Angkor elements.
Discussions will include how Zoot Pictures might take scenes or elements from Virtual Angkor and enhance them for television broadcast – more camera angles, lighting and 4K rendering for The Documentary.
Zoot Pictures will cover all costs for any such work, which will only be used in The Documentary and its versions. Any new video elements created will be shared with Monash University to use as they see fit.
Zoot Pictures and Monash University will work in good faith to negotiate a license fee for the use of the Virtual Angkor elements. Zoot Pictures agrees that all models, existing animations and digital elements of the Virtual Angkor project are, and will remain the intellectual property of Monash University.
Zoot Pictures and Monash University, under the auspices of Dr. Tom Chandler, agree in principle to feature members of the Virtual Angkor team, and the processes and rigor involved in creating the visualizations of the city of Angkor, depending on broadcaster approval and timing and schedule.
