Project Description

There remains an urgent need to develop further therapeutic options for the prevention of chronic migraine. There is increasing clinical evidence supporting a metabolic role in the pathophysiology of migraine, with
evidence of mitochondrial abnormalities, dysregulated cerebral metabolism and metabolic triggers for attacks.
Ketogenic diet is an established therapy for drug-resistant epilepsy. The ketogenic diet has been shown to increase neuronal ATP production, fatty acid oxidation and reduces neuro-inflammatory free radical formation.
