Project Description

The purpose of this project is to redress this gap and elicit solutions for school belonging practices directly from students themselves. The findings will respond to the potential growing portion of students who do not feel a sense of belonging and offer schools practical and tangible strategies for implementation. The aims of this project include: Assessing a sense of belonging in students from Pre-Kinder to Grade 8 at Belmont Day School; Identifying from student perspectives what practices are currently working to improve or maintain their sense of belonging; Eliciting from students’ suggestions for practices that can be implemented at the classroom level and school level that may improve or build their school belonging; Providing recommendations for school improvement to build a stronger sense of school belonging within the student body at Belmont Day School.
