Project Details

Project Description

Combining energy drinks (such as 'Red Bull') with alcohol is becoming increasingly popular, particularly among young people. A small, but growing body of research examining the prevalence and harms of mixing energy drinks with alcohol exists in North America and Europe, but as yet, no such research is currently available within the Australian context. Using a mixed methods design, this project will explore the patterns of energy drink and alcohol consumption among young people in Victoria, as well as the contexts, benefits and harms associated with this form of drinking. By gathering this information, realistic harm reduction messages and appropriate interventions can be developed.
