    Project: Research

    Project Description

The acquisition of major and trace element data for whole-rock samples remains the most fundamental requirement in any attempt to charaterize geological materials. Until 2001, the earth sciences departments of Melbourne and Monash Universities had ready access to a facility for generating such data, which is now unavailable. As a result we urgently seek a next generation instrument to provide high-quality, analytical data across a wide spectrum of earth and environmental science sub-disciplines. the faciltiy will provide benefits to many individuals from 'high-end' research to projects at Honours level, and contribute significantly to National Research Priority goals.
