3D Accessible Maps of Vision Australia Kooyong Redevelopment

    Project: Research

    Project Details

    Project Description

This project explores the innovative use of emerging low cost technologies such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and programmable sensor hardware to create multi-sensory accessible maps for those people with a vision impairment. Partnering with Vision Australia as part of their site redevelopment, the project will prototype and deliver a series of interactive accessible maps to convey key orientation and mobility information about the building to their visitors. The maps and techniques used will be formally evaluated to determine the suitability of these technologies for the creation of accessible graphical material, as well as explore key research questions regarding the appropriateness of the interaction techniques developed.
