30kmh pre-trial study Implementation and evaluation framework

Project: Research

Project Details

Project Description

Moreland City Council adopted the Moreland Integrated Transport Strategy (MITS) in March 2019. One of the actions in MITS 2019 is to “conduct a 12-month trial of 30km/h speed limits in two selected areas of Moreland”.

This project will delivery a pre-trial study (including background evidence base and evaluation frameworks) to inform two, 12-month trials of 30km/h speed limits in Moreland. In doing so, MUARC will collaborate with Moreland City Council and the Department of Transport to prepare a replicable framework for the identification, implementation and evaluation of 30 km/hr speed limits in the Moreland LGA, and potential application more broadly across Victoria.

It is expected the success of two, 12-month 30 km/h speed limit trials in Moreland, as measured through a robust evaluation framework, will support the ongoing approval and implementation of 30 km/h speed limits in the Moreland LGA, with potential application more broadly across Victoria.
