Towards efficacy-driven online learning, a linguistic social network analysis of peer interaction

Prize: Competitive Fellowships

Description

The aim of this research project is to study and harness the networking power of online collaboration tools in language learning environments of higher education. Its purpose is to ensure that responsible and efficacy-driven design principles are developed and implemented when providing opportunities for online collaboration in the language learning and communication training curriculum. To guarantee effective and efficient online communication and collaboration, this study will evaluate how peer networks are built and how interpersonal relationships are established over time (cf. Peeters, 2017). In doing so, new forms of evaluation will be designed based upon the mathematical principles of graph theory and network analysis.
