The annual Razi Medical Sciences Research award was founded in 1995 after the name of the Iranian physician, chemist, pharmacist, and philosopher, Razi who lived in the 9th century A.D. The award is offered in two categories of early-career and established scientists. It aims at honouring local outstanding and distinguished researchers, Iranian researchers residing abroad, researchers from the Eastern Mediterranean Region and as well as researchers belonging to countries who are members of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and introducing the most distinctive research activities in the field of medical sciences that have given emphasis on innovative aspects.
