LLCL Education Funding - Recruiting and retaining students in European Languages

The enrolment in European Languages is decreasing in the past few years and we are experiencing a lack of motivation and engagement from our students in particular after the Covid lockdowns. Our aim is to recruit more students in European languages and retain them by building connections. Some of the initiatives proposed in this project were undertaken in French in S1/2024 by a group called “French boost” which consisted of a group of 4 students guided by 1 teacher/facilitator to promote the French language and culture. We want to extend this idea to the other European languages (“Italian Boost/German Boost/Spanish Boost”) and our ultimate goal is to create a broader sense of belonging within our European major.
