What do STEM employers say they want? An analysis of Australian job listings
We all know employers want science graduates to have communication, teamwork and critical thinking abilities. But is there anything more to hiring practices? Mapping of over 1000 Seek job advertisements from 2022-2024 to a custom skills framework gives a list of additional skills that science employers are looking for in Industry 4.0 . Desirable skills included: Self-motivation and initiative; Time management; Regulatory compliance; Dependability and attention to detail; and Equipment handling. The skills framework developed by the Faculty of Science at Monash and the 'My Career Journey' platform for science students will also be outlined.
