Dean's Award for Excellence - Programs that Enhance Learning (Team)

Prize: Prize (including medals and awards)

Description

An interprofessional team across the School of Primary and Allied Health Care, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences developed an interactive, multimedia education resource. The primary focus was to demonstrate clinical interactions between a range of interprofessional clinicians in the care of a patient with chronic disease, via a
simulated case study. Dialogue modelling collegial interprofessional communication between professions and shared decision-making were captured. Since inclusion of this material across a range of disciplines, highly positive feedback from both students and staff over Interprofessional staff collaboration, for interprofessional student learning the last 3 years have illustrated the value of this teaching material in advancing the understanding of the role and priorities of individual professions when caring for a patient with chronic disease. In 2022, it was applied as a marketing tool during Open Day at Peninsula campus as an example of health professionals’ clinical role to prospective students.
