Dean’s Award for Education Excellence

Prize: Prize (including medals and awards)

Description

Charlotte has demonstrated an outstanding contribution to student learning through her transformative redesign of FIT2107 Software Quality and Testing, applying principles of constructivism, reflective learning, and student-centred active teaching. Her innovative integration of role-play activities—a first in the field of software testing education—fostered critical thinking, collaboration and authentic engagement, with students reporting increased confidence, enjoyment, and understanding. The redesign produced a 19.8 percent rise in SETU scores (from 3.06 to 4.05), marking the unit’s highest rating to date, and established new benchmarks for inclusive and effective learning design. Charlotte’s work has been recognised across the Faculty of IT, featured by EDiQ as an exemplar of universal design for learning, and will be shared internationally through her forthcoming publication at the International Conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE 2025)
