The Betty Jeffrey Award – Betty Jeffrey, OAM (1908-2000) is honored through this Award as one of the ANMC’s founders. Betty was also on the ‘Vyner Brooke‘ and she was also interned. Betty managed to keep a diary of her experiences as a prisoner-of-war which was published as ‘White Coolies’. Following its publication, Bruce Beresford was inspired to make a film called ‘Paradise Road’. Betty Jeffery was the first administrator of the ANMC in 1949.
