Description

Urban Design Competition - 2nd prize

The plan for developing an industrial wasteland is more a set of architectural rules than a project. It is based on the old industrial grounds ultimately being filled in, and the free spaces changed into yards. What parameters must be determined in terms of design and what topological variants thereby become possible? We are interested in whether such a process is capable of producing Gestalt rather than merely structure like in the 1960s. In this, we laid down only two elements: the uniform, continuous eaves line and the structure of the yards and connecting paths. Developer-architecture confronts us ever more clearly with the question of the actual content of the architectural project.
