Biography

Dr Zhibin (Ben) Chen is a neuroscientist and a Chartered Statistician (Royal Statistical Society, UK) in the Department of Neuroscience at the School of Translational Medicine, Monash University, Australia. He was supported by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia Public Health Early Career Fellowship from 2018 to 2022.

His work encompasses outcomes research, statistical modelling, epidemiology, and health economics, with a specific focus on neurological diseases. In recognition of his leadership and research excellence in his field, he has secured $6.3 million in funding from public, academic, and commercial sources as Chief Investigator (CI) or Project Lead. This includes grants such as the NHMRC Early Career Fellowship (GNT1156444), Ideas Grant (GNT2010382-CIB), and Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies Grant (GNT2014800-CIB), which support his research on modelling and predicting the treatment response of antiseizure medication in epilepsy management.

Dr Chen has been actively involved in over 50 cohort studies and clinical trials focusing on epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, and dementia. To date, he has authored 75 articles in leading medical journals, including BMJ, JAMA Neurology, Brain, Annals of Neurology, Neurology, and Epilepsia.
