Biography

Dr. Zhen Wang is an environmental geochemist who works with Dr. Andrew Frierdich's group at Monash SEAE, where he focuses on investigating critical metal extraction from mine tailings along with carbon mineralisation. Dr. Wang obtained his PhD at Duke University (USA) in May 2023, during which he focused on developing and applying useful geochemical and isotopic tracers for tracking anthropogenic metal(loid) contaminants in both terrestrial (e.g., soils) and aquatic (e.g., lake sediments) environments. He has received the Excellence in Review Award for Applied Geochemistry, Award for Outstanding Self-financed Students Abroad from China Scholarship Council, and Graduate Student Research Grants from the Geological Society of America (GSA), etc.
