Biography

Dr Wendi Li is a Lecturer in Communications in the School of Media, Film and Journalism at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.

Before joining Monash University in 2025, she graduated with a PhD from the University of Melbourne and taught in the Media and Communications Program there.

Her teaching and research interests lie at the intersection of global(ised) public communication, climate change activism and communication, qualitative research, methodological cosmopolitanism, and comparative studies. Wendi has an upcoming book with Routledge, entitled "Young people’s climate change communication in Hong Kong and Melbourne: Global crisis, deliberation, and citizenship" in the Routledge Series in Environmental Communication and Media.

Passionate about community building, Wendi has been elected as the Student and Early Career Representative for the Activism, Communication and Social Justice Division (2023-2025) and the Philosophy, Theory and Critique Division (2025-2027) within the International Communication Association (ICA).
