Personal profile

Biography

Dr. Wei Lin Teoh is an Associate Professor at the School of Information Technology, Monash University Malaysia. She earned her PhD in Applied Statistics in 2013 from Universiti Sains Malaysia.

In 2013, she was one of five recipients of the MIMOS Prestigious Award, the highest recognition by MIMOS for outstanding academic contributions to national innovation. Her research interests focus on statistical process control and statistical quality control. She has authored or co-authored over 100 papers in reputable peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings, including first quartile (Q1) journals indexed in the Web of Science (WoS).

Dr. Teoh serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation (Taylor & Francis), indexed in WoS and SCOPUS. She has also reviewed numerous WoS-indexed journal articles, including those published in IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, International Journal of Production Research, European Journal of Operational Research, Computers & Industrial Engineering, and Quality and Reliability Engineering International. Her research network includes 20 active collaborators from Malaysia, France, the United Kingdom, Italy, China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Vietnam.

As Principal Investigator (PI) or co-researcher, she has led numerous internal and external grants focused on developing new control charting methods and their applications in manufacturing industries. She has supervised more than 10 postgraduate students (MPhil and PhD).

Additionally, Dr. Teoh is a visiting researcher and senior member of the International Chair in Data Science & Explainable Artificial Intelligence at the International Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, based at Dong A University, Danang, Vietnam.

Research interests

My research focuses on advancing methodologies in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Statistical Quality Control (SQC) to improve process monitoring, enhance quality assurance, and drive operational efficiency. A key aspect of my work is optimising new control charts and designing innovative control charting methods to address contemporary challenges such as multivariate data, non-normal distributions, and small sample sizes.

By integrating modern analytical tools, I aim to create robust and adaptable frameworks that meet the evolving demands of industries. My ultimate goal is to bridge traditional SPC and SQC approaches with emerging technologies to foster innovation and reliability in quality management systems across diverse sectors.
