Biography

Vinod Mishra is an applied economist whose research interests span energy economics, development economics, financial markets, and institutional change. He has published widely on energy poverty, health, education, and inequality in developing countries, as well as on long-run convergence in energy consumption across regions. His work also examines the dynamics of income inequality, environmental sustainability, and financial development, with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific and South Asia. Beyond these themes, he has contributed to scholarship on stock market efficiency, portfolio diversification, labour market outcomes in China and India, and institutional performance, including courts and governance. His research is distinguished by the use of rigorous empirical methods and large-scale datasets to generate policy-relevant insights.
