Biography

Vanessa Newby is a Senior Lecturer at Monash University. She is the author of Peacekeeping in South Lebanon: Credibility and Local Cooperation (Syracuse University Press, 2018) and has published widely in leading international journals, including Global Studies Quarterly, European Journal of International Security, Third World Quarterly, and Global Governance.

Her research focuses on the role of credibility in global governance, peacekeeping, the Women, Peace and Security agenda, and the international relations of the Middle East.

Vanessa was the Founder and President of Women in International Security in The Netherlands (2020-2024). She currently serves as Associate Editor of the Australian Journal of Political Science and Chief Book Review Editor of Global Governance.
