Biography

My research focuses on studying important questions of policy concern in the fields of health, development, and the economics of crime. I have laid a particular focus on exploring gender-related issues in developing countries with work exploring how post-marital residence norms impact female autonomy and domestic violence in South and Southeast Asia, barriers to female entry in electoral politics in India, and how exposure to violence impacts maternal and child health and development in Pakistan. Another study also explores this question in the context of the United States.

A separate research agenda has explored issues in the economics of crime in developed countries with studies focusing on the effect of illegal firearms on crime in the US, effects of transportation infrastructure on crime prevalence, and the improvement of housing stock on neighbourhood crime.
