Biography

Tee Chwee Ming obtained a PhD from Monash University, a Master of Science Banking and Finance from Loughborough University, a Master of International Business from Sydney University, and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He has been teaching banking and finance units since 2002 in several universities in Malaysia at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Prior to this, he had accumulated 5 years of investment and trading experiences in equities, forex and derivatives markets in markets such as KLSE, NYSE, NASDAQ, ASX, and HKSE. Since 2014, he is actively involved in the trading of gold bullions and cryptocurrencies. Additionally, he had published multiple academic papers in the area of crony capitalism, political patronage and sustainable finance.  

Tee was one of the co-principal investigators for the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education Fundamentals Research Grant Scheme (FRGS/2/2013/SS05/MUSM/02/2- The Relationship between Different Institutional Investors Monitoring and Financial and non-financial performance of Malaysian Firms, 2013–2015). In addition, he was awarded Postdoctoral Fellow Research Grant by Universiti Sains Malaysia for the duration 2021-2022. For his academic contributions, he was awarded the annual Sanggar Sanjung Award by Universiti Sains Malaysia (Best Publication Category) in 2022. His Postgraduate Diploma dissertation won the best Monash University dissertation award in 2012.   

He was engaged by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (2006-2008) and Securities Commission of Malaysia (2013-2015) as a consultant trainer to junior officer and senior managerial executives from the financial services industry under the Continuous Professional Education (CPE) annual licensing program.
