Biography
Dr Tanvi Maheshwari is an architect and urban designer, and currently a research fellow in the Informal Cities Lab at Monash University. Her work spans a wide domain across academic research, consulting and industry-based practice, focussing on planning support tools, futures research, scenario buildings and design thinking methods. Her research modality is primarily collaborative and transdisciplinary, operationalised through impact based, action research projects.
Tanvi's doctorate and ongoing research focusses on urban design and planning for transportation infrastructure. Her PhD research explored the impact of the advent of new transportation technologies such as vehicle automation on the built enironment. She is currently a co-investigator on a Research Project at Future Cities Laboratory, Singapore-ETH Centre, to study adaptive planning methods for land use and transportation infrastructure.
Prior to her appointment at Monash, Tanvi was the Associate Director for Research at Future Cities Laboratory, Singapore-ETH Centre. She has previously worked at Synthicity and Autodesk Inc as a user researcher for the development of planning support tools. She is also a co-founder of arch i Platform in India, a nonprofit organisation for research and practice in sustainable development.
