Biography

Dr Susan Mayson conducts research in the areas employment relations and human resource management with an interest in women's employment outcomes. Much of her research focuses on small and entrepreneurial firms. She collaborated with Professor Rowena Barrett (QUT) on editing the International Handbook of Entrepreneurship and HRM published by Edward Elgar.She has published research in a range of international journals including International Human Resource Management Journal, Human Resource Management Journal and Human Resource Management Review. Her current research focuses on HRM in Social Enterprises. Dr Mayson also publishes in the area of working, teaching and learning in higher education with publications in the Higher Education Research and Development (HERD) journal and Higher Education. She has supervised  a number of PhD students to completion on topics including HRM and fast-growth firms, work-life balance and the psychological contract, performance management of middle managers in Chinese universities, international student safety and welfare and precarious workers in Higher Education.

Teaching and Learning

Dr Mayson is Director of Education in the Department of Management. She is an associate Fellow in the Monash Education Academy, a Dean's Teaching Award (2011) winner and she received a Dean's Commendation for Teaching Excellence in 2009 for developing a Research Skills Development approach to curriculum development . She was a national team member of an Australian Teaching and Learning Council (ALTC) Fellowship (Professor Angela Brew) on undergraduate student engagement. She teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
