Biography

Dr Stephen Macfarlane is a sessional Consultant Psychiatrist with consulting suites located in Burwood. He specialises in aged psychiatry, Alzheimer’s disease and psychosis.

He takes a pragmatic approach to patient care with a focus on practical treatment through comprehensive consultations. Stephen's psychiatric area of interest is patient diagnosis and initiation of management, collaborating with General Practitioners to transfer care to GPs. Stephen is committed to providing excellence and attentiveness in all patient care he provides.

Dr Macfarlane is locally trained, attaining his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery qualification from Monash University. Today, his psychiatric experience extends over 14 years. He has an extensive background in Alzheimer’s disease, previously a Principal Investigator in over 25 local, national and international industry-sponsored clinical trials. Stephen has published 29 journal articles in peer-reviewed journals.
