Biography

Sindu George is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Education.  Her PhD research at Monash University focused on elements of educational psychology including teachers’ self-efficacy and goal orientations. Sindu has interdisciplinary educational (Science Education), research (educational psychology, inclusive education), and teaching (science education, educational psychology, teacher education, and inclusive education) experience.

After working as a secondary school Chemistry teacher, she transitioned into teacher education. Sindu has taught across primary, secondary and tertiary contexts in Australia, the UK, and India. She currently teaches postgraduate and undergraduate units in Science Education, Educational Psychology, and Inclusive Education.

Sindu’s main research interests are teacher self-efficacy, motivation, goal orientations, STEM education, and quantitative research methods. Her current research includes collaboration with scholars from Europe, the Middle East, and India investigating teacher self-efficacies and motivations. She previously worked as a research assistant with Senior Researcher Professor Umesh Sharma in inclusive education research (Pacific INDIE project: http://monash.edu/education/ research/projects/pacific-indie/).  

Her professional engagement includes serving as a member of the editorial board of Australian Journal of Education and as reviewer for a number of journals including AERA Open, Teaching and Teacher Education, Review of Educational Research, and The Australian Educational Researcher. She has formerly served as Associate Editor for The International Journal of Pedagogy and Curriculum, and International Journal of Behavioural Sciences.
