Biography

Dr Simone Dal Corso is a Research Fellow at Respiratory Research@Alfred, Department of Immunology and Pathology in the School of Translational Medicine. With her extensive experience in pulmonary rehabilitation for people with chronic lung disease, her research focuses on developing functional capacity tests for areas with limited resources.
Simone has developed two low-cost field tests: the six-minute step test and the modified incremental step test. The latter test has been utilized worldwide to evaluate exercise capacity, prescribe training intensity, and reassess individuals suffering from chronic lung diseases in locations where exercise testing equipment may not be easily accessible, including the patient's home.
Before relocating to Australia, Simone successfully led research funding applications from Brazil's leading funding agencies, CNPq and FAPESP.
