Ying Kai (Simon) Yap is a Lecturer in the Department of Banking and Finance at Monash University, Australia. He received his Ph.D. in Finance from RMIT University in 2025 and has been with Monash University as a Teaching Fellow since 2016. His research interests in Finance are empirical corporate banking and finance, bankruptcy, peer effects, and information environment. His work has been published in journals such as Financial Review, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, Economics Letters, and Applied Economics. In addition to disciplinary research, he is actively involved in educational research and innovation. He has received several internal teaching and research grant awards, including the Dean’s Award for Early Career Teaching Excellence (2019) and the Dean’s Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning (2023). His educational research and innovation focuses on scalable approaches to personalised feedback that enhance student learning outcomes.
