Biography

Simon Craig is a paediatric emergency medicine physician at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton.

With a strong interest in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, Simon also has a Masters of Health Professional Education. He has considerable experience reviewing training and assessment with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM), has worked as Director of Emergency Medicine Training (DEMT) at Monash Medical Centre for a number of years, and is currently a member of the Trainee Research Panel for ACEM.

Simon is currently vice-chair of PREDICT (www.predict.org.au) and has broad research interests in paediatric emergency medicine.

He is currently conducting a randomised control trial on lignocaine/phenylephrine for the reduction of pain and distress related to insertion of nasogastric tubes in young children. Simon is also the local principal investigator for a multi-site PREDICT study on phenytoin vs leviteracetam for status epilepticus. He is a keen supervisor of post-graduate trainees conducting research into paediatric emergency medicine.

Simon recently edited the Monash Health paediatric emergency medication book (www.monashchildrenshospital.org/resuscitation) and has published over 40 peer reviewed journal articles.
