Biography

Shakoor Ahmed holds a PhD from the QUT School of Accountancy at the Queensland University of Technology in Australia, as well as a Master of Business Research from the University of Southern Queensland and a BBA and MBA in Accounting and Information Systems from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh. Shakoor has more than seven years of undergraduate and postgraduate management accounting, auditing,  corporate law and taxation teaching experience in Australia and Bangladesh, including at Queensland University of Technology (QUT),  University of Queensland (UQ)  and University of Southern Queensland (USQ). His research interests include investigating corporate reporting, disclosure, and frameworks for financial and non-financial information, with a particular focus on modern slavery and human rights practices in business operations and supply chains. 

He has published the results of his research, including corporate disclosure issues in business and human rights and, the impact of renewable and non-renewable energy, carbon emission, militarisation and economic growth dilemma in developing countries, in journals such as Australian Journal of Corporate Law, Defence and Peace Economics and Advances in Environmental Accounting & Management. Shakoor is also a Social Media Editor for the Business and Human Rights Journal and has been recognized for his work on responsible business in the #ThinklistNext21.
