Dr. Sajedi is a neurologist with a keen interest in studying large-scale epidemiological data. His research focuses on neuroepidemiology and the impact of environmental risk factors on neurological diseases, particularly the role of geomagnetic disturbances (GMDs) in the risk of developing multiple sclerosis (MS). He is recognized for his pioneering GMD hypothesis of MS and is currently exploring the potential molecular mechanisms underlying this relationship.
After graduating as a neurologist from Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Sajedi served as an assistant professor and later as Chairman of the Neurology Department at Golestan University of Medical Sciences. His contributions to advancing neurological care and research were widely acknowledged, earning him recognition as Iran's Top Young Professor of Neurology in 2021 by the Iranian Neurological Association.
In 2024, Dr. Sajedi joined Monash University as a Research Fellow in the Department of Neuroscience to further his work on the GMD hypothesis using data from the MSBase international registry. His ongoing research aims to uncover the environmental and molecular underpinnings of MS, contributing to a deeper understanding of its pathogenesis and potential preventive strategies.
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
