Dr Tan Seok Shin completed her postgraduate study in the Universiti Putra Malaysia. Public health nutrition (maternal and child health, community nutrition, health promotion and education, food safety) and nutritional sciences (functional foods and food composition analysis) are among her areas of speciality.
She has been awarded the International Union of Nutritional Sciences Leadership Award by the National Institutes of Biomedical Innovation, Health and Nutrition, Japan, Visiting Fellowship by the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom and is also the Gold Medal recipient in the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX). Her research interests are in the field of public health nutrition, nutritional sciences and functional foods as well as nutrigenomics and nutrigenetics.
