Biography

Rosemary Clerehan is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

An educational linguist, she was formerly Director, International Postgraduate Support in the Faculty(2006-2013), and Head of Monash University Language and Learning (1987-2005).

She has a consultancy, Academic Communication, which offers advice on, and review of, dissertations and drafts of journal articles; panel membership for language and learning-related positions; and assistance with other discipline-specific language-related work.


She has published in higher education, health sciences, educational media and online learning journals in the areas of: HDR students; health literacy and doctor-patient communication (especially written); learning on the web; disciplinary understandings and genre studies; systemic functional linguistics; plagiarism; and cross-cultural issues in teaching and learning (especially for students from Middle Eastern backgrounds).
