Biography

Dr. Remy Davison holds the Jean Monnet Chair in Politics and Economics (2012–2015). In 2010, he was appointed a UN Global Expert. He is the former Acting Director and Associate Director of the Monash European and EU Centre. He was Visiting Professor at the Robert Schuman Centre, European University Institute, in 2015. He is frequently asked to deliver confidential briefings and expert evidence to Australian and overseas diplomats, international organizations (IO) and Parliamentary inquiries. In 2018, Dr. Davison keynoted the Beijing conference of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), the IO established to implement a free trade agreement between the People's Republic of China, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

He graduated Combined Honours from Monash University and completed his Ph.D. at the University of Melbourne. Prior to his return to Monash in 2006, Dr. Davison was Senior Lecturer in Government at the University of Tasmania. Previously, he was Director of the Strategic Studies programme and Lecturer in International Relations at La Trobe University. His earlier appointments include Lecturer in European Politics in the Department of Political Science at the University of Melbourne; and Lecturer in International Business at Griffith University, Brisbane. He was Visiting Senior Fellow at the National Europe Centre, Australian National University (2008-10). Dr. Davison was also previously Research Fellow at the Contemporary Europe Research Centre, University of Melbourne (1997-2009). He is a former Vice President of the Contemporary European Studies Association of Australia (2001-02).
