Biography

Dr Thapa is an early career researcher with keen interest and experience in implementation research, epidemiology and health system research. She is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Eastern Health Clinical School, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Thapa’s research focuses on designing health system for improving equitable care for gestational diabetes. Her research work extends in Australia and internationally.
Dr. Thapa completed her PhD in 2022 and her PhD project focuses on identifying gaps and role of community health workers in improving continuum of care for non-communicable diseases in low-and -middle income countries.  She is currently undertaking various research projects focusing on migrant, refugee and refugee-like background.  
Dr. Thapa has extensive experience in implementing health projects and worked with various international organizations such as German Development Cooperation, Save the Children International and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. 

Dr. Thapa is a Project Manager and Co-Investigator for the NHMRC-GACD funded project on co-designing a multi-level intervention to improve the continnum of care for hypertension and diabetes in Nepal. Further, she is also a Co_Investigator for the NIH-GACD funded project on Scaling up community-based non-communicable research into Parctice (SCALE_NCD).
