Biography

Rachel Kirby is a Research Fellow at the School of Earth, Atmosphere and Environment at Monash University. Rachel graduated with First Class Honours in a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) from the Australian National University (ANU), receiving the University Medal. Rachel continued on at the Research School of Earth Sciences at the ANU for her PhD, where she explored the formation of IIE iron meteorites through impact processing of the H chondrite parent asteroid.

Research interests

Rachel is interested in all aspects of planetary geology and meteoritics, however she has a particular interest in the early stages of planetary formation including impact processes and the onset of planetary differentiation. Rachel is also interested in the collection and curation of meteorites in order to further scientific research.

Supervision interests

Rachel is open to supervising or co-supervising students who have an interest in planetary science.
