Biography

Gloria Quiñones is an Associate Professor in Early Childhood Education at Monash University, Australia. A Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) researcher and former early childhood teacher in Mexico, her scholarship focuses on early childhood education and care (ECEC), with particular attention to the everyday lived experiences of babies and young children.

Gloria’s research and teaching are grounded in a strong commitment to emotional wellbeing and the creation of sustainable learning environments. Drawing on cultural-historical and posthuman theoretical perspectives, she explores how these approaches can be enacted through collaborative partnerships with educators and families to support children’s learning and flourishing. Her work employs visual methodologies to visiblise the emotional, cultural, and relational dimensions of young children's learning and early childhood pedagogy.

She co-edited Wellbeing for Infants and Toddlers in Education and Care: International Perspectives (2025), which offers an international examination of infant–toddler wellbeing in ECEC settings, and co-authored of Affective Early Childhood Pedagogy for Infant-Toddlers (2021), which foregrounds the emotional and affective dimensions of pedagogy for babies and young children.

She co-leads the Early Childhood Workforce Research Collective - Monash Education, which supports sustainable professional growth for early childhood educators and leaders.
