Biography

Dr Philippa Chandler is a research fellow working with Jane Wilkinson and team on their ARC Discovery, Invisible Labour: Principals’ Emotional Labour in volatile times. 

Philippa joins Monash from The University of Melbourne, where she was based in the Melbourne School of Design and the School of Geography since 2014.

Most recently, Philippa was the Research Fellow on the ARC linkage project Building Connections: Schools as Community Hubs. During that project, she became interested in the emotional labour involved in leading innovative school-community projects.

She is a human geographer with wide-ranging research interests including emotions in the workplace, place attachment, expressions of community and environmental philosophy.

Philippa’s PhD explored camping and caravan culture in WA’s Ningaloo Reef region.

In her spare time she freelances in arts and culture journalism.
