Biography

Sam works in the School of Biological Sciences at Monash University as an Emeritus Professor.

Sam's research areas of interest are:

  • Community ecology with emphasis on aquatic systems
  • Ecology of freshwater ecosystems, in particular flowing waters, lakes and temporary water bodies
  • Role of disturbance (both natural and human-generated) in structuring communities
  • Restoration ecology in Streams
  • Impacts of exotic invaders
  • Freshwater crustacean and fish ecology
