Personal profile

Research interests

Dr Phillip Ward develops and integrates methods for analysing human brain physiology and metabolism. Following a PhD dedicated to imaging cerebral blood vessels and quantifying blood-oxygenation with MRI, his work has expanded to include glucose-metabolism and dynamic approaches to mapping cerebral metabolism.

Dr Ward's recent work has focused upon the effects of metabolism, haemodynamic function and neuroinflammation in healthy ageing and dementia.

Community service

Phillip is co-chair of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine ECR Training Program and the Victorian Representative on the National CIBF ECR Executive Committee. He is also a member of the ARC CIBF Gender, Equity, and Diversity Commitee.
