The GPCR cardioprotection group currently has significant national health and medical research funding to develop new cardioprotective agents post myocardial infarction. A number of biased adenosine receptor agonists with novel pharmacology have been identified. These novel compounds show desired cardioprotective effects and avoid on-target bradycardia in multiple models.
