Biography
Paul completed his doctoral studies in 2008 at the University of Innsbruck Austria. He joined the department in 2009 after a research visit at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. His research interests are in the fields of political economy, environmental economics, insurance economics and development economics with a focus on natural hazards. His research has been published, among others, in the Quarterly Journal of Economics, European Economic Review, Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, and Journal of Public Economics.

Paul is a founding member and current director of SoDa Labs, a co-founder and one of the directors the commercial spin-off KASPR Datahaus PTY LTD and co-founder of the IP Observatory.
