Biography

Wee Liam is currently working as a Lecturer in Environmental Humanities and Social Sciences at the School of Arts and Social Sciences, under the Monash Climate Change Communication Research Hub (Malaysia Node). Previously, he worked with the Malaysian node to produce a policy report for the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, aimed at improving planetary health awareness and fostering sustainable behavioural change among Malaysians. 

Research interests

His research focuses on conceptualisations of human–nature relationships and how these inform pro-environmental motivations and behaviours. He is currently expanding his work to include community-informed research using participatory action and co-design approaches with vulnerable communities affected by climate change. At present, Wee Liam is involved in collaborative research with various institutions to investigate how climate disasters (e.g., floods, heatwaves) affect the psychosocial well-being of vulnerable communities.
