Biography

Mong-Lin works in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University as an Lecturer. She is also the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator of the Monash Department of Occupational Therapy at its Peninsula Campus overseeing consistency and resource, and coordinates fieldwork education of the Monash Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) course.

Mong-Lin has worked as an occupational therapist for over 18 years. She completed a Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy in 2001 from Kaohsiung Medical university, Taiwan. She then went on to complete a Master of Occupational Therapy in 2003 from The University of Queensland, Australia. In 2009, she completed a PhD in occupational therapy at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. Following this, she completed a graduate certificate in Health professional Education in 2012 at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Mong-Lin also had clinical experiences both in Taiwan and Australian as a paediatric occupational therapist in inpatient, community and school settings.

In 2010, Mong-Lin took up an academic position in the Department of Occupational Therapy, Monash University - Peninsula Campus. She was second Academic Fieldwork Coordinator hired to further develop fieldwork for the undergraduate course.

In 2015, Mong-Lin was awarded Monash University School of Primary Health Care (SPHC)Education Committee Innovation Teaching Excellence Award based on her “achievements in innovation and excellence for developing and delivering innovative models of fieldwork learning” to occupational therapy education. In the following year, 2016, she was again awarded Monash University SPHC Education Committee International Teaching Excellence Award for her teaching excellence in “orienting and providing academic and fieldwork teaching and learning support to occupational therapy International students”.

Mong-Lin currently coordinates, tutors and/or lectures into the following undergraduate units offered in the Monash Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) course during Semester One and Two each academic year:

OCC2013 Introduction to Occupational Therapy Professional Practice (6 CPs), Semester one

OCC2020 Enabling Occupation: Performance challenges 1A (12 CPs), Semester two

OCC3000 Enabling Occupation: Fieldwork Experience 1B (0 CP, Fieldwork unit), Semester one

OCC4081 Transition to Practice 1 (6 CPs), Semester one

OCC4082 Advanced Professional Practice (12 CPs, Fieldwork unit), Semester two

Mong-Lin also continuously involves in research honours student supervision linked to OCC3072 (12 CP) and OCC4091(12 CP) the occupational therapy honours research project units.
