Biography
I am an Australian ethnomusicologist known for my contributions to the study of Asian music, with a particular focus on Indonesia and Southeast Asia
Research interests
Music-cultures of Sumatra and Southeast Asia generally; performing arts archives, historical ethnomusicology, organology, performativity, public arts policy, children's music, youth orchestras
Community service
I serve on the editorial board of The University of Chicago monograph series Chicago Studies in Ethnomusicology and have served on the boards of the journals Musicology Australia, Acta Musicologica, Ethnomusicology Forum, Wacana Seni: Journal of Arts Discourse, Journal of Musicological Research, and others.
