Biography

Mahbub is a senior lecturer in education research at the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (FMNHS), as well as an Academic Development Specialist at the Monash Education Academy (MEA). He is a Senior Fellow (SFHEA) of Advance HE and an ANZAHPE Fellow.

At MEA, he designs and delivers programs for the professional development of staff across Monash faculties for high-quality teaching. In his role as the Research Coordinator of the Monash Centre for Scholarship in Health Education (MCSHE), his primary focus is to enhance skills, capacity, and confidence within FMNHS to conduct innovative and high-quality research in health education. He engages in interdisciplinary research, develops and delivers courses related to research methodology and educational practices, and organises research seminars and workshops.

With over 18 years of experience, he has researched various educational issues including scientific and environmental literacy, graduate employability, development of generic skills, and curriculum evaluation. His current research focuses on professional development for university educators, exploring evolution of health professions education research methodologies, and fostering employability in healthcare students, using qualitative and mixed methods designs. His research has been published in top-ranked education journals such as Advances in Health Sciences Education, Medical Education, Academic Medicine, Medical Teacher, and Higher Education Research & Development.
