I have always been fascinated by how microbial pathogens subvert the host immune defence mechanisms and establish persistent infection. In 2015, I graduated with a doctoral degree from the University of Queensland Diamantina Institute. My current postdoctoral research focuses on understanding how the bacterium Helicobacter pylori modulates the host innate immune system to cause gastric chronic inflammation, a precursor to gastric cancer.
